Radio Redux – Season 7 (2012)
SEASON SEVEN - TRIVIA
- Season 7 saw the debut of a faster, slightly more hard hitting version of the Radio Redux theme “Y’Know (It Rocks)”. It’s
- #161 was, under the old system, #711. That might well explain the show name just a little.
- There’s a number of song references in Season 7 show titles: Paula Abdul’s “Opposites Attract” for #154, “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” for #156, A-ha’s classic “Summer Moved On” for #158 – even “The Go With The Flow Show” (#164) is actually named for The Beautiful South’s song “Let Go With The Flow”.
- Actually, The Beautiful South also did a very popular cover of “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” – in both English and French.
- #170: “The Jester Minute Show” is a pun on BBC Radio comedy Just A Minute.
- Whilst Kevin has spoken on his love of radio comedy on several occasions, particularly that of the BBC, someone who shares that appreciation is actually Dr. Eggman voice actor Mike Pollock and the two have discussed the matter on several occasions.
- From Season 7 Radio Redux was solely broadcasting live on RadioSEGA. Sadly, despite at that point being only one of three live shows still going on the station (the others being ones by Biafra and Turbo – now both LMC contributors) how SEGASonic:Radio treated Radio Redux – namely like it was their creation and property – lead to the team deciding to leave.
- SS:R’s comments after the decision, saying that Radio Redux had “made it’s name” with the station, only confirmed to the team they’d made the right call, Kevin pointed out in response that they had joined as a favour to keep SS:R going and reminding them that “we already had [a name]”.
- SS:R would effectively collapse about a year later when Turbo (who would become a semi-regular in later seasons) also ceased his Turbo Drive Live radio show. Conversely, RadioSEGA flourished and remains a close partner of LMC, continuing to acknowledge the contributions of Radio Redux to this day.
