Summer of Sonic Registration Begins; Ends Within Hours
On Sunday morning, registration opened for the 2011 Summer of Sonic convention in London. By Sunday afternoon, all available spots for advance registration had been filled.
“Sorry, advance reservations for The Summer of Sonic 2011 are now closed,” read a message on the registration page during approximately the 2PM hour, Eastern time. Registration had opened to the public at 5AM ET Sunday–10AM in Britain.
That means, even with only three announcements on what to expect at the show, demand has filled all available spots for it at far and away a record pace. This is the first time the space has been so quickly filled in the history of the fan convention.
“The team has essentially stopped it a safe number for the venue to begin with and we will then work from that point forward,” said SOS co-organizer Kevin Eva in an extended Tweet once registration closed. “So its not the end of the day if you’ve not done so yet.”
If you missed your chance to register, you can still attempt to enter after 10AM the day of the show, though you may be waiting in line if SOS remains at full capacity, and you will not be guaranteed entry.
