Sonic Bumped Off Guinness Gaming World Records Cover?
Well, this is a turn up for the books. End of October we were all celebrating the fact that Sonic was being given front and centre position on the cover of the 2011 Guinness Book Of Records Gamer’s Edition, a nice nod to his forthcoming 20th anniversary year. A bit like how Mario was front and centre on the 2010 issue for his 25th. Now though – according to Amazon at any rate – he’s been replaced… by Sackboy. All of a sudden the Sonic Sackboy that SOA have been playing around with doesn’t look so happy-cheery does it?
Admittedly the whole cover has been replaced but still, its rather a disappointment and frankly a bit of a slap to the face. Not that this is the first time Guinness have played fast and loose when it comes to recognising achievements and Sonic – setting “new” Green Hill Zone records anybody?
EDIT: Bizarrely, the smaller image that comes up in recommendations STILL shows Sonic, so presumably this is a recent change.
This is going to the top of my do-not-buy list.
Ditto, aiaisuncle…
So not fair! I even started to think about buying this edition!!! (Until I came to the “he’s been replaced” part… -.-”)
That’s frustrating. I knew everyone off the first cover, and then they change it for what reason? None as far as I can tell.
