Samba De Amigo Reviews Hit The Web
Samba De Amigo is fast approaching its new UK release date of September 26th and thus some reviews have appeared on the web. Both CVG and IGN have gotten the scoop and both seem to come to the same conclusion. Samba is described as being great fun for a casual knockabout but on the harder difficulties is too flawed to function properly.
The problem seems to be the Wii not picking up on how you shake the remotes. CVG by way of NGamer write:
“It’s just not fun to play when you’re shaking gleefully away and it’s saying ‘Bad. Bad. Bad. Bad.’2 We know we’re not bad because when it works right we’re getting 98% scores.”
Oh dear. At least it’s not all bad news as despite some iffy controls the personality of the game and thus the fun shines through.
“There are still moments of gameplay that are pure, maraca-based magic. The opportunity to make windmill actions is most welcome, and shaking your whole body down low to the Ketchup Song (known here by its original Spanish title, Asereje) is absurdly uplifting. That’s how the game should be all the time, and finding Sonic in the second tier of Career mode, complete with a Green Hill backdrop, should be as cool as the first sight of his stage in Super Smash Bros.”
IGN share exactly the same comments in their video review. Ultimately the reviews do little to quash my enthusiasm for the title, just hope I don’t get too angry with it. Now at least I’ve a decent reason for sucking: “it’s not me, it’s the Wii controls… honest!”
