Intended Sonic SXSW Presentation Delayed Indefinitely
Minutes ago, the official Sonic Twitter made official a collective fear fans have had since the initial delay of the annual Sonic presentation warranted by the cancellation of this year’s South by Southwest: The presentation now has no formal debut date.
The Sonic pillar at Sega of America originally announced that it would share announcements from that intended SXSW presentation this month, in an “all-new format.”
With many traditional conventions either canceled or postponed as social distancing becomes the new normal, electronic events are quickly becoming part of that new normal, but there are few opportunities for Sega to tie into one. The development and execution of an independent event has been made more difficult with non-essential businesses closed around the world, and employees working from home, adhering to state and national lockdowns.
A potential opportunity could arise with IGN’s Summer of Gaming event, which Sega has already committed to participating in.
We will continue to keep you informed on plans for this event as they are made clearer.
