Sonic Wrecks #099: ‘The Deepest Cut’ was completed on October 15th 2011.
The Sketchhog himself is the logo of Sonic Channel, SEGA’s online Japanese Sonic portal and also references a game made using the Sketchhog style for Sonic’s 20th anniversary.
DoubleXXCross (then Umiyuri) was tasked with re-drawing the original version of the comic after a serious scandal involving the original artist revealed by the wider internet community meant AAUK could no longer accept the comic in its original format.
The re-drawn comic is changed to be more in line with the original story concept.
It is very difficult for a crabmeat to go ‘up yours’.

The story about Summer of Sonic 2011 t-shirts is true, SEGA Europe did try to convince the SOS team that the Sketchhog was an original design made especially for them.
