Wreck-it Ralph Earns $33M in 2nd Weekend of Release
Disney’s Wreck-it Ralph, with Sonic’s film debut included, held its own against the latest 007 release at the domestic box office this weekend.
Early estimates from Deadline.com indicate Ralph made $33 million in box office ticket sales this weekend. In contrast, Skyfall earned an estimated $87 million. There was no way Ralph was going to beat Skyfall, but the family film certainly has nothing to be ashamed about, only dropping 32 percent week to week, which is not bad at all by box office standards and good enough to take the #2 spot for the weekend.
That, potentially, is very good news for Sega if kids can make the connection between Wreck-it Ralph, Sonic’s cameo, and the fact Ralph is a playable character in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. It’s all for the better if the movie can maintain a top 3 spot next weekend, right before ASR Transformed‘s release in North America.
