Watch Vertigo Games Test Skyworld Using Oculus Touch
With us now fully entrenched in PAX Prime 2015 it seems a very long time ago that we were discussing everything that occurred at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California. At the time we brought you news that Vertigo Games’ had announced a brand new title that would be coming to the HTC Vive. That title was Skyworld, a turned-based strategy game in which users users manage their economy as they build an army, master the control of dragons and set out on a campaign to save the world.
The game was on display at GDC we did not see any footage of this in use and whilst we did get a look at Vertigo Games new HTC Vive dev kit (which they recorded an unboxing video of),we did not see the use of Steam VR’s room scale player tracking which allows Skyworld players to walk around the map as battles play out.
However, what has since been released is a video showing an Oculus based test using the Crescent Bay version of its head-mounted display (HMD) and the Oculus Touch controls. You can see the video below:
No official announcement has been made regarding Skyworld coming to the Oculus Rift officially and nothing else has been mentioned beyond this initial test. Still there could be possibilities for this occurring in the future if the Vertigo Games team thought the experience worked well.
