The London Philharmonic Orchestra performs a Sonic suite

The London Philharmonic Orchestra is known for being one of the best orchestras in the world, and for trying to reach places in where classical music is not usually present.

Sometime ago, they released an album called The Greatest Video Game Music, full of medley and classical compositions based on the music of videogames from all times. It was very successful, so now they’re recording it’s sequel, The Greatest Video Game Music 2.

This new album includes, among others, a theme based on Sonic the hedgehog, called A Symphonic Suite.

Little is known about what levels or games music will it perform, except that it’s Sonic based.

The album is released 6th November, and the full track list contains music from games like Chrono Trigger, Fez or Portal.

Well, this would make sense considering the London Philharmonic did some of the music for Sonic Unleashed–Wait, that was the Tokyo Philharmonic. Well, I’d love to see another orchestral take on the series’ music. We need more of these. We really do. Oh, you know what else would be awesome? The Big Band of Rouges performing Sonic tracks. Seriously, imagine Secret Base Act 2, Green Hill, Hilltop Zone, Palmtree Panic, Hydrocity, Death Egg Robot, Lava Reef, Speed Highway, Crazy Gadget, several Sonic Heroes tracks, Soleanna Town, Skyscraper Scamper, Planet Wisp, Sweet Mountain, Reach for the Stars, Route 99, Egg Utopia, Open Your Heart, Live & Learn, and Sonic 1, 2, and 3’s boss music including both versions of Mini-Boss music from Sonic 3 done in a big band fashion.

My freaking god, would that shit be the best thing since Sonic and the Honey Nut Cheerios bee racing for a box of cereal!

Coolness, I want to hear this Sonic suite!

You can listen to a minute and a half of it. Has a nice rendition of Casino Night Zone. Should be a good CD.

I like the album cover artwork for the both of them, showing a Call of Duty/Battlefield looking image with the soldier playing a cello for the first one and holding a violin for the second–their utterly serious expressions make it even funnier.
