I’m not saying that guitar in the teaser sounds like Jun. But there’s a good chance that we’re getting a Crush40 main theme for it.
Bingo! Recall that the Jun was flying out to New York last week:

2010 Sega PR is back in full force what a good awful trailer.
If you’re going to ditch the Sega All Stars aspect then ditch those car designs
Shame on them for pulling another Project Needlemouse/Returning villains in Forces bait and switch with the first trailer’s Sonic R reference
Small roster that has has a freaking egg pawn eating up a slot
Team gameplay is a major step back from transforming, transforming actually innovated on kart gameplay I don’t see teams doing much except make poor players feel better in multiplayer as the rest of their team carries them to win.
I understand if you were underwhelmed by the trailer but me personally, I wouldn’t call it a bad trailer. I thought it was a pretty straightforward teaser giving us a vague idea of what’s to come.
I don’t mind them dropping the all-stars name, though I get why you do, I just didn’t think there was much more they could do after Transformed, save for a bigger character roster or even more obscure areas from Sega games.
Ditching the car designs doesn’t make much sense to me personally, since they are new designs and evolutions of what we’ve seen from Transformed, they are by and large part of the identities of our anthropomorphic cast, so why would you take that from them.
I think the ‘R’ from Sonic R is just a reference to the series past endeavors which is absolutely fine, Sega and Sonic Team should be proud of their history and what they’ve produced, so it’s nice that fans can recognize and appreciate that symbol. Plus, it appears to be a stylistic choice, I don’t think the ‘R’ means that it suddenly has to be on foot racing.
Not to mention that the game in question isn’t held in high esteem by fans, critics or the general public as far as I’m aware. You want to bring up Sonic 4 and Forces without noting that trying to replicate elements of ‘R’ could possibly do more harm than good. I think Sonic Team, Sega and the developers they outsource to, could do with less of the non helpful reflex criticism.
In regards to the Transforming, you could be right as the lack of innovation could certainly be perceived as a step back. That said, although I’m not seeing much here that says it’s present in the game, I didn’t think MK8 would carry over the gliding and underwater driving from 7 either, leaving me pleasantly surprised on the end.
I’m not disregarding your statement at all, I think there is an increasing tendency on the part of Sega and Sonic Team to rely on their past successes for the substance of their games, but this is an outsider project, Moor of the gameplay philosophies of Sumo Digital will be present here than that of the aforementioned, and you seem to like the all-stars racing games, I think even you can afford to have some faith, if not just be cautiously optimistic. You are free to express how you feel but I would implore you to exercise constructive tone with your criticisms, assuming of course you want to see the series succeed. Saying what you think could be better goes a long way.
While I’m sure the game itself will be rock solid due to Sumo’s involvement, the whole thing seems like one step forward and two steps back for Sonic as a whole. Finally he gets another racing game to himself, but it’s STILL All-Stars style? And from the sound of things, it probably won’t be that unique to stand out compared to the other All-Stars. If only there was more of a twist to give Sonic back some of his bite.
That’s one of the things I liked most about Riders, it introduced something to equalize the playing field with the Extreme Gears, but the Extreme Gears were used in ways that still made sense within Sonic’s logic. They weren’t just driving around, they were busting out tricks, doing snappy maneuvers and power-wise, the gear didn’t hold them back. Sonic could still spindash and grind rails, Tails could still fly, Knuckles could still punch things….
This game just feels like it doesn’t have any real twist that could make it be it’s own thing and stand on it’s own two feet compared to the other Sumo racing games…I’ll still buy it since another Sumo racing game with Sonic at the helm is just something I can’t pass up, but until I see more and it wows me, I’m not going to be very excited beyond that.
So Blaze finally playable?
Fingers crossed.
Nice. I’ll be looking forward to this game.
