Sonic X Rights Acquired for New US Children’s TV Block

Via a news tip from Jonathan, we’ve learned the largest owner of local TV stations in the United States has inked a deal to bring Sonic X back to the small screen.

Sinclair Broadcasting, which holds close to 200 TV stations across the country and is about to enter major markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago pending regulatory approval, is partnering with MGM to bring a new children’s programming block called KidsClick to all viewing platforms, including over the air television. Sinclair will clear the block on some of its stations beginning July 1st, while MGM owned subnet ThisTV will clear the block nationally.

According to Toon Barn, Sonic X is one of eight titles slated for the block, along with Pink Panther and Pals and Max Steel.

KidsClick will be part of a 6-9AM ET block from Monday to Friday, and a 7-10AM ET block on weekends. The brand will also stream to desktop and mobile devices, as well as over the top services.

We’re not sure if Sonic X will launch with the block in July or will be seen down the line. But the bottom line: Even if you don’t have a Sinclair owned station or ThisTV carried on your channel lineup, in your city, there is a pretty good chance you’ll have access to KidsClick in some form. Whether you’ll have online access to Sonic X, however, remains up for debate, as it remains under a Hulu paywall uncut.
