Sonic to Cross Into Angry Birds Epic
If you wondered how Sega managed a partnership with Rovio to bring the Angry Birds franchise briefly into Sonic Dash, your brain is about to hurt some more–the second part of that partnership will see the roles reversed.
Next month, special Sonic material will be found in Angry Birds Epic, according to Pocket Gamer. That includes a Sonic Dash style map for the RPG, complete with trademark Sonic loops.
The update to Epic will also bring about new classes and skills for the characters.
You may remember that earlier in the Summer, the Epic characters appeared for a few weeks in Dash, to much puzzlement both in the community and press. The video below shows how it all shook out.
WHY ?!
…why not? X)”
This has to be the slowest news week of the year!
Why not Angry Birds 2 instead?! Wtf?!
Aren’t there plenty of those?
It is new released. But I guess A. Birds Epic is more legit I suppose.
Going off-topic here but maybe I have a little scope about the Sonic movie; Sony released new release dates of several movies up to 2017 and Sonic wasn’t there, if anything this could confirm the movie won’t come out next year.

So it will be on 2018 then.
He said “up to” 2017, meaning the list ends when 2017 begins
Wha? Did you take a look on the list? there’s no Sonic movie listed there, in next year up to 2017 or even 2019.
@Raw
According to writer VAN on Facebook. He said..
“I can’t comment on Sonic release date, but just FYI, this is not an exhaustive list of Sony’s films. This is probably about half the films they will release in 2016 and 17.”
That list doesn’t prove anything though. It’s just a list of dates Sony have confirmed; that doesn’t mean the planned Sonic film won’t hit cinemas in 2016 or 2017.
Does anyone even really care about Angry Birds anymore?
Sonic has literally become Captain Smiley by going this low just to make money.
So…wait, how is this ‘low’ when Sonic Dash (and other Sonic mobile games) are widely successful on their own? It’s just a fun little crossover. Why are Sonic fans so negative about…well…everything? Let Sega have a little fun with the character. That’s like saying Namco is low to make money by putting Pac-Man in Smash Brothers. It’s fun. The game is fun. Let the two companies have a little crossover. It’s okay, Sonic fans.
The difference is putting Pac-Man and Sonic in Smash Bros is putting them with other gaming legends.
Angry Birds is just a lame fad of a game.
That…like Sonic Dash, makes their respective companies a TON of money. So again, what’s so bad about a crossover again? How does this make Sega ‘low just to make money’? Can you answer that?
Are you so inept you can’t even figure it out for yourself? Sonic being crossed over into other things isn’t the problem. Nobody here actively hates the idea. But with Angry Birds: the lowest tier of video game stardom based on a fad of a game that’s mobile only to be crossed with Sonic the Hedgehog and being made like it’s gonna be anything more than a cheap cash grab …it just reeks of desperate.
Sonic in Smash? Awesome. Sonic in other SEGA titles like PSO? Awesome. Those things will be remembered for their quality and/or contributions no matter how long in time they will exist.
Angry Birds? No. This is SEGA hopping to the opportunity to ride fame from one of the most (or was) popular mobile titles just for the sake of it and it just doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t feel like it was a fit for Sonic because “hey we have this cool thing….also hey a Sonic reference!” Is for mostly other games. Here? It’s just that he’s here to be here for publicity’s sake.
I’m not even going to read your comment as you call me ‘inept’ yet change your point and still fail to answer my question to your ORIGINAL argument (which you seem to have backed off from, no surprise.)
So, I’ll ask it again while rebutting your changed, back-stepped argument.
How does this make Sega ‘low just to make money’? Can you answer that? Please?
Also, for your other points –
“This is SEGA hopping to the opportunity to ride fame from one of the most (or was) popular mobile titles just for the sake of it and it just doesn’t feel right.”
Sonic Dash…a game with over ONE HUNDRED MILLION freaking downloads, is doing this for a “fame grab”? Do you hear yourself right now? Oh, God forbid Sega do something by having Angry Birds crossover with Sonic and Rovio returns the favor! No! This is all for the fame that Sonic Dash…already…has.
Sonic Dash is the most downloaded Sonic game in HISTORY. IN. HISTORY. Sega doesn’t NEED Angry Birds Epic (1,872,241 plays on the Google Play Store, by the way) for fame, nor does Angry Birds need Sonic for fame. Both games reached their respective milestones before these big ‘crossovers’, and can continue to do so without. It’s for FUN. Right now all you show to prove your point is some conspiracy theory grounded with no evidence whatsoever. Bravo. And I’m inept?
…You backtracked from your original point (which you still failed to prove, but okay).
Anyway, no, this is not Sega ‘attempting’ anything. Sonic Dash has over 100 million installs across all platforms and is the most downloaded Sonic game in history. To compare, Angry Birds Epic has 10,000,000 – 50,000,000 installs. And those games reached those milestones on their own.
Just accept that this crossover is done for fun and has little to nothing to do with ‘fame grabs’ or anything. It’s okay. Next time when you decide to change your argument at least back up the first one you made.

Can we all just realize Angry Birds sucks and move on?
I think it’s amazing. Love angry birds. Haters will hate.
