Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing E3 Amy Footage
E3 2009 has come and gone, but that does not mean we’ll stop finding more footage from the show. Posted late last month on YouTube, this latest Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing footage shows off Amy during gameplay.
The footage shows a lot of Amy’s moves, from using her mallet while driving, to posing while she drives into the side of a rock (not something I recommend to anyone who currently owns a vehicle). I suggest you turn down your volume, unless you wanna hear a few guys complain. Thanks to sonicsmashkirby for the tip!
LMC Note: Contrary to the video description this IS them just slamming the game for no reason in a fanboyish fashion. It’s honestly pretty cringeworthy how hard they try to dismiss absolutely everything about the game and then in the comments try to go ‘nuh-uh!’.

Plus, its unfinished, thats why there is a whole year till release left, are they stupid or is that show? All this unneeded bashing, the game isn´t finished, hello?
I really try to think what they think and understand these “professional” guys, but, sometimes it doesn´t work, I can understand the guy that did the Unleashed 360 review in the point that the button didn´t respond very well, I played that game long enough to see that the buttons sometimes don´t react when you press them, but this time here, its a riddle for me, one big riddle, bashing that is unnecessary in every way, this isn´t even a Sonic game in the first place the name was just tacked on to make it sell better!

I don’t care as much about the Mario Kart rip off (Sorry. Until I see more it kind of is. Seems to control a bit different though… and has more annoying posing). I don’t get why people care that Sonic’s in a car. It’s a spin off. Why should you care.
I don’t believe these guys. Reviewing a game before it’s even released to the public is pretty horseshit game journalism, as are the popular comparisons that everyone and their dad have already observed with Mario Kart. As for his complaints, well… jeez, couldn’t this apply to just about any racing game? Including Mario Kart?
I say give this game a chance. There are apparently going to be over 20 characters in this game, and so far we know that Sonic, Tails, Eggman, Amy, Shadow, and Big are in it. That’s 6 out of 20, not to mention Samba de Amigo and the protagonist from Super Monkey Ball that we already know about. No one even knows what other stages there are; Seaside Hill Zone is the only one, and so far it looks pretty good. Short, but sweet.
So negative… The games not done yet, and the last review the guy was doing tricks in the air off the ramps. This isnt a very fair review, I wouldnt listen to it.
Sega characters that no one gives a crap about? Well who gives a fuck about Baby Bowser or Petey Piranha or even Toad… Well actually I like Toad, but that’s beside the point.
I’ve got agree with the reviewers. But as HyperS sais. game isn’t finished, but why add something like turbo’s just before a jump if the game wasn’t finished? That’s a big no no, to me though some elements nicer than mario kart, the way the camera follows you around the corkscrews makes me feel a little green.

I know, you don’t like that I compare it too Mario Kart, but it’s almost the same thing but just SEGAs thing so it’s pretty smart too compare these games. But doing before the release is bad!

Obviously, these guys have ABSOLUTELY NO idea about Sonic games! GameDaily guys, just because you (startlingly) don’t know them, it doesn’t mean that no one else knows them either! This is just really sad! Sonic characters are SO MUCH richer in personality that all Mario Characters and it is incredible how much people who actually know them love them! And yet this “professional” guy comes and sais something absolutely sad like this. All these people should be punished for reviewing ANY Sonic game, because they have ABSOLUTELY NOT THE SLIGHTEST IDEA about Sonic and Sonic games!
I dunno. The video makes it look like alot of fun — and if they’ve still got months of development time it should only get better. I think I would take the reviewers more seriously if they pointed out more highlights…I think the only positive thing they had to say was that the graphics were nice. But, I wasn’t playing it so maybe it’s a dull experience. I’m 50/50 on this one.
People I agree with all of you, these guys are simply nintedo (mario) fans that what to put Sonic in second place and mario in 1 first place, yesterday I went to GameStop and the store was full of people (kids, adults, and teenagers) all of them with no exception were buying SONIC GAMES, Sonic Games for DS, Nintendo, Xbox 360, PS2 and PS3. Sonic Unleashed, Chronicles, Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection and I think it us Secret Rings, the store went empty, they have simply sold out!!!
Now before those freek gyus starting to talk trash about Sonic they should think a bit, before mario kart (that sucks, nobody buys it in my country) it was Crash Nitro Kart, so if Sonic is a ripoff of mario, then mario was a ripoff of Crash Nitro Kart and Crash tag team racing!!!
When Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing comes out a destroys for 100% mario kart, then we (Sonic Fans) talk to them!

Looks like good progress for a game that is 1 year away from release. They have plenty of time to work on game play to make it more exciting. This was just to show what it may look like.
ahh Crash team racing was my favourite game on the ps1 ever! and i couldnt give a flying monkey about the mario one i had (i think it was double dash or something like that)
anyways, I know that a lot of sonic games arent the ‘brilliance that is all things mario’, but the thing that definitely interests me and a lot of other fans, is the characters. That’s why i dont mind something like this, because you can play as your favourite character (and watch their personalities in the cars lol) and i’d have to say, if it was mario characters in those cars, it would be boring. –> in my opinion

And it’s not a ripp-off om Mario kart! Kart games isn’t something new! I think this will be much better since it is more racing than shooting items. MK is all about items!
Sometimes I’m on the last lap and I’m first and then I get a stupid turtel shell in my ass and then I won’t be able to finish the race with first place!

Anyway, I think sumo digital does a great job with the graphics and level design!
Now if it were me playing it (which I haven’t) I would say that it is sort of a Mario Kart ripoff, just interpreted into the Sega universe, but won’t fully judge until it actually comes out. Hopefully it will play at least averagely.
After all, a year is a long time, so who knows what things they might put in.

I could only watch half of this video due to these unknowns complaining about how this game is a Mario Kart rip-off . What so Superstar Tennis is a Mario Tennis rip-off too! These guys make it sound like the Mario franchise invented all major game variations. So all racing kart games are now a Mario rip-off, these are the people I hate….. just assuming stuff.
I made it to where they started the obligatory “Sonic games back then were good, but now he sucks” part in any Sonic review nowadays.

Once a Sonic game is released, people automatically bitch about every last thing they can find. If you’re going to attack their argument, then at least do it professionally.
Hell, just minutes ago I saw an argument over Metal Sonic’s joints in Winter Olympics.
Near the end of the review, One of the idiots said, “I didn’t pick this lovely lady in a…pink gocart. I mean who is she?”
Any person who even remotely knows the Sonic franchise, or has played a Sonic game other than the very first one knows that pink hedgehog is Amy Rose. It even says Amy with a heart on the back of the freaking car!!!
I mean come on. Get your facts straight before you comment. and besides, most mainstream video game reviewers hate the Sonic franchise. All they seem to care about are the more violent and less sensical games. It may be that a blue hyper hedgehog running around the world doesn’t make a lot of sense, but that’s besides the point.
Nothing ever pleases these kind of reviewers either. When they say they want better graphics in the Sonic games, SEGA gives them the better graphics. But they say the game play sucks. So SEGA gives them gameplay. So then they say the plot sucks. Then SEGA gives them Sonic Unleashed, a great game. Then they say that the game sucks because they don’t have anything better to say.
All in all, if you like the game, then you like it. It just seems that all of these guys want to watch Sonic crash and burn. And Unfortunately, it looks like they’re winning that battle.
LOL @ them mentioning that Nintendo has 12 hit franchises. Well, yeah…they do. How is that relevant? That’s why this is a Sega game, and not just Sonic. Mario Kart is Mario…not Nintendo. Third tier Sega characters are probably as enjoyable as Dry Bones. That’s funny. They don’t even grasp Mario Kart.
They need to get over the fact that it’s a Mario Kart ripoff. Sega’s probably been busy working on this game for a long time to compete with Mario Kart when it first came out, so there’s still a lot of stuff let to work with. They probably don’t even have all the characters added, and besides, do you see anyone in Mario Kart weilding a 50 ton hammer like Amy?(or seemingly 50 ton?).
I’m sure what would get the critics is a racing cross between Mario and Sonic, maybe that would get them to quiet down.
In everything else, I totally agree with TimTheOwl8275. Anyone would know that the character being played is Amy, unless they’ve only played the first game and left the franchise altogether.
And in the way of Osnic’s comment, totally true. Kart game’s aren’t new. If you guys have played SA2/SA2B, there’s a Kart racing area in it, but I don’t recall anyone ever going on about that.

Forgive me for saying this, but I HATE it when people call Amy Rose the “Girl Sonic” and Shadow the Hedgehog the “Black Sonic”……I’ve had to deal with it for so long during middle school that it just instantly ticks me off. But thankfully, I’m not biting anyone’s heads off and I’m eagerly awaiting this game so I can race with my friends online and go Super Sonic on them. ^^
Theoretically, every genre is based on one game that started it. Platformers rip off Mario games. Technically, it isn’t the first platformer or side scroller…but it codified many platforming tropes and cliches. Defender is the model for shooters…Wolfenstein and Doom for FPS’s etc. Street Fighter 2 made fighters popular. The problem with Kart Racing is that, yeah, Mario Kart started the genre. Nobody else has really innovated. Sonic was a platformer, but very different from Mario or Prince of Persia. Mortal Kombat as a fighter is not Street Fighter. Duke Nukem is not Doom. Most Kart games have been…either completely awful or blatent ripoffs of the Mario Kart. Crash Team Racing was good…but what did it add to the genre? Anyone? What did Banjo Pilot add?
That’s the issue. Nintendo created the genre, and is the only company innovating. From what I see, this game has some potential quirks that could distinguish it. Superstar mode, for instance. The character interaction within the car, interative scenery…these quirks could be innovations that make the genre advance. If so, it will go from clone to competitor.
Most action rpg’s openly steal from Zelda, but people rarely say Zelda clone. You need to remember that most companies don’t make kart racers, party games or mascot fighters. So yeah, those games are viewed as exclusive to Nintendo. There’s good reason for this. Afterall, as lame as Mario Party was…how awful was Sonic Shuffle? Ugh. Or Crash Bash. LOL
Thank You Crazee for bringing some sense into the argument. That’s what people don’t get. It’s only a rip-off if the game does absolutely nothing new for the genre.
Being a Mario fan I don’t really see this as a rip off of Mario Kart if they do something new.
Oh, And Sonic Unleashed (SU), Mario Kart came out before Crash Bandicoot was invented, way back in the 16-bit days, get your facts straight before you go on a fan boy rant again, OK?

Also, this “review” is pathetic. Every single last one of their complaints can be applied to Mario Kart. Ramps that blast you across a gap automatically regardless of speed? Yeah, that’s a feature found in Mario Kart. A bunch of playable characters that nobody cares about/ever heard of? That’s a staple of Mario Kart. A game that adds nothing substantial to the series? That would be the Mario Kart series.
These reviewers should do some research on what the hell they’re talking about before accusing a kart racing game for being worse than Mario Kart for featuring the same “bad” gameplay elements found in that very series.
It’s not that this is a Mario Kart rip-off in general, it’s just that alot of what we’re seeing here we already saw in Mario Kart. Not that that’s a bad thing but the game is aiming a little too close into familiarity.
Okay then. XD I decided to listen to the audio for some ‘lulz,’ and I did get some chuckles out of it. XD “This is a Mario Kart rip-off!” Umm, okay, let’s see. you really can’t do many different things with a game like this. I mean, there’s Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing, I’m sure I’ve played other games like it. It’s not Burnout or anything, cripes.
