Sonic Movie Forecasted To Make $54,000,000 In 3-Day Opening Weekend In The US
The forecasts for the Sonic movie keep getting higher and higher.
Deadline’s reporting that, “according to industry estimates this morning”, the Sonic movie is projected to gross $53,990,000 in its opening 3 days in the United States and gross $64,300,000 in 4 days. Paramount has been estimating $50,000,000 in 3-days and $60,000,000 in 4 days. Paramount’s estimates are slightly less, but both have something in common. If either of these forecasts become reality, Sonic the Hedgehog will have the best opening weekend in the United States for a video game adaptation movie. Detective Pikachu had just accomplished this last year.
The pieces are certainly in play for the Sonic movie to do very well. The movie has very little competition. It’s a 4-day weekend, thanks to President’s Day and it helped that Friday was Valentine’s Day. And, most importantly, the delay allowed momentum to build, more media exposure, more hype.
The Sonic movie may be about to break records. Stay tuned.
