Sonic Mania Plus Launches July 17th

It’s official! Sonic Mania Plus is launching on July 17th in North America and Europe. If you need a refresher on its feature set, Plus adds Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel as playable characters. A new Encore Mode modifies the graphics and layouts of the game’s zones, while Competition and Time Attack now support up to four players as well as ghost challenges. A new trailer for the game, released today, shows off many of these features, including the color changes of Encore More in additional zones like Studiopolis and Chemical Plant. Also revealed are Mighty and Ray’s unique moves; the former can perform a Stomp-like ground-pound, while the latter can fly through the air more aggressively than Tails. Players will be able to swap between characters on-the-fly during gameplay.

Today’s announcement also confirmed more pricing details for the game. Physical copies of Sonic Mania Plus will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for $29.99; they will include a collectible art book and a reversible box art cover. For people who already own Mania, the gameplay features of Plus will be offered as Encore DLC for $5 across all platforms where the game is currently available.
