Sonic CD officially confirmed, now prequel for 4.1
Earlier in the week, we mentioned that SEGA were going to reveal Sonic CD at PAX for XBLA, due to the release from Major Nelson.
Today however, SEGA have issued a press release announcing that not only will the game be coming to XBLA, but also PSN as well, as nearly all mobile devices.
The couple of big shocking things it has revealed, is firstly that the game will use the original Japanese soundtrack, and secondly, that SEGA is moving parts of the game timeline around, to now state that Sonic CD is now the official prequel to Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode 4.1.
Originally released for the SEGA CD system in 1993, and included the first appearance of fan favourite characters Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. Big news for fans everywhere, Sonic CD is coming to digital platforms with music from the original Japanese soundtrack. The beloved prequel to Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I is coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network, iPhone and iPod touch, iPad, PC Digital Download, Android, and Windows Phone! I’m just so surprised/happy it’s coming to Android!
Silly SEGA! This is Sonic 4, not Sonic CD2! If you wanted this to be a CD sequel, you should’ve named it that way. And also made it better. And also put it on a CD.
