Sonic CD December Release Confirmed, Gamestop Tablets Get It Early
We finally have some guidance on when the re-release of the RSDK powered Sonic CD will be on sale.
A press release on VerticalWire says Android powered tablets sold at participating Gamestop stores beginning Friday will come pre-loaded with the game. Know that this is a pilot program, and only about 200 of its many thousands of stores across the United States will participate in the sale. Those who find them and buy them, however, will be among the first to see how Christian Whitehead’s work represents the 1993 classic. The release says CD will be compatible with an accompanying Bluetooth controller.
For the rest of us, the wait is a touch longer. The release goes on to say a widespread December release is planned for the other announced platforms, including XBOX Live, PSN, iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices, and PC digital download. No specifics were given, but seeing how releases like these have been handled in the past, this will not likely be a single day affair.
When we get more guidance on this re-release, we will pass it along to you.
I’ve already played it on Sonic Gems Collection. C’mon, Sega, re-release Knuckles Chaotix or SegaSonic the Hedgehog, y’know, games that aren’t already available in complications.
It’ll be nice to see one of my favorite titles become playable in a wide screen format!
I’d say there’s a chance Sega will have dates for SCD just like S4’s release (ex. iOS: 10/7/10, PS3: 10/12/10, and 360: 10/13/10).
@ Quietguy, this link which was posted by the sonic the hedgehog facebook page mentions a december release date
My 3DS could use a new game on the E-Shop, this would sell well……Please Sega…Please.. 030
@Energon addict
I know but I was making connections of S4’s mid-October release with SCD’s re-release for December.
So Generations just got released and there already releasing another game? Why don’t they let Generations breath first then release it in January. Just saying
Sonic 4 Episode 3 ;D
