Sonic Boom TV Coming to Hulu
A release from Sega early today, as relayed by ANIME News Network, shows that Sonic Boom TV has now found a new Internet home on Hulu.
Hulu will be the exclusive streaming video on demand home for Boom TV, and the deal extends to Hulu outlets on all major devices, including mobile, tablet, and gaming consoles. The release notes Boom will be available on the subscription service, in English, and Spanish, beginning this month. The length of the agreement was not disclosed.
It is the first major business move for Ivo Gerscovich, having only been installed as Chief Brand Officer for Sonic and Senior VP of Sega of America earlier this year.
The release touts Boom‘s consistent first or second place timeslot ratings in key demographics on Cartoon Network in the US and many of the CN branded networks around the world.
The announcement comes about a week after Sega’s Aaron Webber afforded a kind courtesy to the community, asking YouTube users to take full episodes of Boom off of the site, or risk copyright strikes against their accounts. Now, as Twitter tipster AugieD noted when he sent in this news tip, we know why: The show’s going behind a pay wall.
Select full episodes and clips are available for free on Cartoon Network’s website, thought is unclear how long that arrangement will continue.
