Sonic 3 to be Re-Released…on Tiger Handheld
There’s an old saying most know: Careful what you wish for. It just may come true.
In this case, the cries from the community for years to re-release Sonic the Hedgehog 3 have been answered–not by Sega, but from Tiger Electronics.
In 1994, Tiger released a handheld LCD version of Sonic 3 for players to take with them. That’s the version Tiger will be re-releasing this fall. The company announced Sonic 3 will join The Little Mermaid, X-Men Project X and other titles to introduce the LCD handheld era to a new generation.
There is, most assuredly, a section of our reading audience who was not around for these miniaturized renditions that made the rounds in the 1980s and 1990s. For reference, only the title theme and the music to Angel Island Zone made the cut onto Tiger’s portable edition, so…hey, no rights issues!
The handheld Sonic 3 will retail for $14.99. That’s $10 more than the full price of Sonic 3 & Knuckles as advertised on Steam.
I’ll just stick with Sonic 3 A.I.R. or Sonic 3 Complete, thank you very much.
