Shenmue III “Battle Rally” DLC Now Available

One of the more criticized components of Shenmue III‘s campaign to release was a late revelation the largely crowdsourced project would have paid DLC on top of the base game. This week, that first set of DLC was released to the public.

Battle Rally, at a cost of $7.99 on the Epic Games Store and PlayStation Store, puts Ryo at the center of a bunch of races. Yes, he’s gotta go fast:

Ryo Hazuki, Ren Wuying & Wei Zhen engage in battle while racing their way through the course. Reach the finish line in first place to acquire awesome items. In another event you’ll search for Bailu’s official mascot: “Bailu-chan”! Find as many Bailu-chans as possible to get a leg up on your opponents during the race and acquire some fantastic items.

*To play the DLC, you must have reached Niaowu or have save data on which the game has been cleared.

There is video available on Youtube to see how this all plays out, and you can tell Yu Suzuki and programmers had some fun with the additions, even affording some Sega-themed callbacks in the HUD. Take a look at the extended gameplay below.
