The spotlight’s dimming on the entries to this year’s Sonic Hacking Contest 2015. Only for today though! It returns tomorrow to shine as brightly as Eggman’s bald head. Before we do turn off that spotlight there’s a three pack of Sally appearances, all of which were done by E-122-Psi.
NICOLE Laser Attack: Press A and Sally uses NICOLE to fire a small projectile which hits nearby enemies and obstacles.
NICOLE Scan Mode: Press B and NICOLE will send a data wave to reprogram monitors and other Eggman traps.
NICOLE Downward Laser: Press Down + A/B while airborne to fire at objects straight below. Sally also gets a small vertical boost.
Slide: Press Down while running to slide on the ground for a short distance. Sally can also slide under certain obstacles using this method.
Somersault Dash: Press Down + B/C while on the ground and Sally will somersault forward at a high speed. This is useful for jumping long distances.
There are a couple of differences in those controls though. First off the Somersault Dash doesn’t involve the B button in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. She also gains a new move in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles:
Upward Dash: Hold Down + C while on the ground and Sally will rev her feet on the spot as opposed to a spin dash. Let go of Down to charge full throttle in the facing direction. Be careful though, Sally is vulnerable to blockading obstacles and enemies.
There’s a couple of additional notes for Sonic 2:
Sally gains a few stipulations akin to Knuckles in Sonic 2, for example, the ring quota in Special Stages are depleted and she retains her ring count after losing lives or entering starposts. 2 Player options (also with Sally replacing Sonic) and the ability to play as Tails remain from the original game however.
On the level select sound test, play 03, 03, 03, 0B, 10, 10, 10, 04 to enter a hidden bonus.
There’s an additional note for Sonic 3 & Knuckles:
Sally also replaces Sonic in Competition Mode. She plays identically to 1 Player Mode.
