SEGA Nerds Mega Visions Digital Magazine Kickstarter Launches
It has been a long time since the days that you could pick up a magazine and get the latest video gaming news. A lot of the magazines have now gone digital and Game Informer is among the last to release physical copies of their issues. SEGA in particular is rare to get any spotlight in magazines anymore, although it has happened.
However, the crew at SEGA Nerds (which I also write for) have launched the Kickstarter to a project called Mega Visions. It is described by SEGA Nerds as “a digital magazine dedicated to delivering top-notch SEGA coverage from past to present designed for all your devices”. Although it’s an unofficial SEGA magazine, it’s as close to official as you’re going to get. Not only are there SEGA Nerds writers contributing to the project with their own columns and features, but folks that used to work at other gaming media websites are contributing. This includes Randy Nelson, who was one of the founding editors of IGN back in 1997 and was senior editor of The Official Dreamcast Magazine. Even former SEGA employees such as Tom Kalinske and Al Nilsen are going to be contributing. Blake Harris, writer of the SEGA-Nintendo 90s rivalry book Console Wars, will be a featured writer.
The Kickstarter is currently halfway to its $13,000 goal. The current estimated delivery for the first issue is in September.
