Sega Financials Still Deep in the Red
Unfortunately for Sega, this will be the third year in a row that Sega’s been sagging financially. Sega posted a $412 Million USD loss recently, and its newest projected sales figures total $3.1 Billion USD, 12 percent lower than anticipated. Reasons for this include sagging DC (Japanese) and Arcade sales, and DC Launch costs.
Right now, it doesn’t look much better for Japan, with the PS2 coming over the weekend. But elsewhere, Sega can make a name for itself again, and have some good strength financially when PS2 launches domestically. But for now, we’ll wait and see what happens. By the way, as soon as we get any news on how the PS2 launch went, we’ll let you know, and then try and piece together what it all means for Sega.
