SAGE 2018 Booth Overviews: Set 4

Sonic Recharged

This meaty demo created from the Sonic Worlds Delta engine includes Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as playable characters through five expansive zones. Special stages have been revamped as well. You may see a little crossover with another well known 90s platformer: Jazz Jackrabbit. Still, community reaction to the latest from Team Recharged has been positive and supportive so far.

Sonic Eternal

Another meaty demo, this time from NOCEDK, includes five playable characters. This SFG’s hook is its incredibly colorful, detailed, original environments based on Sonic 3 and Knuckles. The artwork is fantastic, but the gameplay mechanics, which include moves like the classic Super Peel Out, retain the tried and true Sonic feel.

Lake’s Sonic Worlds Resources

LakeFeperd, one of the fan game community’s biggest names since Sonic Before the Sequel and Sonic After the Sequel, has since branched out into original works for sale. But he hasn’t forgotten his roots; this year at SAGE he’s providing a toolkit for the Sonic Worlds engine, as well as his now discontinued Mega Man Zero engine. LakeFeperd will also be streaming and playing several SAGE titles on his YouTube page throughout the week.

Dream Dasher

Original titles have also benefited from the SAGE stage. This one, from Werneck, is a unique dash-based 2D platformer with hand drawn visuals. Quick in its pace, there’s still plenty to do with multiple levels available in the demo. The project has been in development for over a year, and it shows!

Sonic CyberShock

A small demo features an original character and thrusts him into the Sonic platforming world. Here, Sonic and company help Redz find his way back into his own dimension–and find the precious Ultra Shards. A fairly straightforward work, this title so far has been positively received by SAGE players.
