Fan Fridays: Custom IDW Covers

There’s one thing for certain about IDW’s Sonic Comics – they have a lot of variants. So much so that 15+ covers just don’t seem to be enough – now even the fans are chipping in with their own variants, each managing to put a strong focus on the newest character, Tangle. SonicMotion did some original compositions, one of which showcasing Sonic and Tangle racing by the lake. JamoART took a different approach by putting a clever spin on a well known Disney poster. Adam Thomas did a unique piece presenting our heroes facing off against a common enemy. Even TheBlueBlur got in the mix by modeling some 3D covers, bringing to life Evan Stanley’s original sketches.

There’s a lot of charm to be found here – each artist really brings their own unique skills to the table. Tangle…d. Haha! That first one almost made me spit out my V8 on the office wall.

I hate those tumblr busybodies for causing IDW to scrap rafa knight’s cover.

Wait… what? I heard that something had happened concerning Rafa Knight and IDW, but don’t know the details. I think it was ZealousFox who I first heard mention that something had happened; I think he mentioned something in one of his reviews about it but didn’t give details.

So what exactly happened with Rafa?

  Some sonic tumblr group that makes it their job to keep sonic family friendly looked at rafa knight’s tumblr, saw her models of those splatoon inklings with sexy bodies, went into her discord and found out she supports and/or drew (forgot which) loli/shota art and somehow made IDW aware of that.

    If that was the sole reason then its a real shame, I love Rafa Knight covers, though I kind of understand IDW’s position since the comic is just starting and they want to prevent any kind of bad buzz.

    I agree with it being an IDW thing. I don’t think sega would really give a shit. (looks at hyper dimension)
