NOW OUR TIME HAS JUST BEGUN | The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths – Pt 1

At the end of 2013, after the team had finished with Hatoful Boyfriend, Kevin introduced them to Secret Paths. A Kickstarter game he backed that tied in with the surprise continuation 30 years later of French-Japanese animation The Mysterious Cities of Gold – a show he watched religiously as a kid.

We rejoin the ‘Children of the Sun’, as they search for clues in China to a second city of gold. There’s Esteban – a Spanish orphan with possible ties to an ancient civilization, played in a VERY English fashion by Kevin. Incan decedent Zia, who in the LMC playthrough is trying to fend off Esteban’s attentions – and played with great exasperation by DoubleXXCross. As their friend (and absolutely not third wheel) Tao, the last descendent of the ancient civilization of Mu – and played with utter confusion by both Vger and Donnie. And with only a possibly crazed parrot, and the utterly useless in-game ‘help system’ provided by Spanish navigator Mendoza (played for some reason as Bane from The Dark Knight Returns by Turbo) for assistance.

Told over 8 weeks with a dodgy Skype call, a dodgier XSplit setup and Twitch suffering from severe delays and growing pains, this is one from the archives that’s admittedly rough around the edges, but very funny nonetheless.
