Yuji Naka Imports Sonic Movie from US
With no clear path for the Sonic movie’s release in Japan, one prominent name in Sonic history has taken it upon himself to import the physical release from the West: Yuji Naka.

The movie was supposed to be released in the country in March, but the global coronavirus pandemic changed all of that. Though the Japan Post has halted EMS shipments to the United States, Amazon is still shipping worldwide.
Mr. Naka notes the 4K UHD edition has audio and subtitles in Japanese–indicating the film is finished and ready for theatres in Japan once they reopen in large numbers. Whether anyone will show up to those theatres is another question. The country is slowly reopening businesses, but with several restrictions still in place. It does not appear that the movie has yet been distributed digitally in Japan–a difference from the West.
Mr. Naka also said of the movie, according to a translation by Sonic JP News on Twitter, “I’d like to watch it in theatres, but I’m wondering if I should watch this one already.”
