World Series Baseball 2K1 Review Round-up
Three reviews were added of the title today at SegaWeb. One gave an overall score of 1.4. Here’s the second review, with a tad more forgiving score of 1.9, and, finally, a third review, with a better score of 3.2. What happened? Frankly, I don’t think any of us want to find out.
Dreamcast HQ gave the title an 8 out of 10, the best review of the game so far. SegaDojo had two reviews, one carrying a 5.5 rating, the other a 6.5. IGN Dreamcast sided with SegaDojo, handing down WSB2K1 a 5.5 as well. Aside from the 8 rating, this title is not doing great at all, with the potential to seriously flaw Sega Sports titles’ image for a while.
However, if any of you want to talk amongst yourselves about why WSB2K1 is getting crap reviews, here’s something that is, as of right now, strictly a rumor. It states that Sega released a beta of WSB2K1, possibly at 40-70% completion to stores early, and then the full version will be released to stores as early as tomorrow. To back this up, Sega’s site says this game still isn’t ‘available’ until tomorrow. So, who’s right? It might take a few days to figure out. If I get any new info on this I will pass it along to you as soon as possible.
And if that wasn’t enough, Konami has said ESPN Baseball Tonight for the Dreamcast has been delayed until next year. Sigh…this is not a good week for Dreamcast sports fans…
