Where the Sonic Movie Performed Best on Opening Weekend
The western and south-central United States were among the regions with the best turnout for the Sonic movie during opening weekend.
That’s according to industry website Deadline, which analyzed viewing data from theaters across the country. The website says the movie “over-performed” there.
The website also lists the markets with the top grossing theaters for the film. Those markets include New York City, Los Angeles, Orlando, Houston, Phoenix, Washington DC, Miami, Tampa, San Francisco, Dallas, and Seattle. Theaters in Canada ultimately contributed a bit over 5% to the movie’s domestic box office total.
Statistics Deadline obtained show that through Sunday, the viewing audience for the Sonic movie was 56% male, and 70% under the age of 25.
In all, the Sonic Movie made an average of $16,799 at each of the 4,167 theaters it screened in domestic markets, according to Box Office Mojo.
