For reasons that you’re probably aware of I’m pretty sick of 2011. Sick of it’s smug face slapping me about mine every five minutes – I’d rather like it to be over. Hence why I’m so pleased to throw my support behind the Sonic New Years Eve Party, which is from the same people who brought you the Summer Of Sonic Pre-Party. It’ll be awesome, but it needs your support to make it happen! Fancy a one-stop shop for all your New Years needs and both party food groups: booze and boogie!

After an incredible warm-up party for the Summer of Sonic 2011 convention on the 24th June, I would like to invite you to join us once again at Jetlag on NEW YEAR’S EVE to give Sonic’s 20th Anniversary the almighty final send-off it deserves! Anyone who came last time knows just how epic this will be, and anyone who didn’t, well, just see for yourself!

Indulge in Jetlag’s amazing international food, from London’s biggest fish finger sandwich, through gourmet burgers, to quesadillas and gyoza! There’s all the drinks you could want, and I can tell you that the highly popular Sonic and Shadow shots will be making a return as well as a brand new surprise option!

We’ll have incredible music from Sonic games mixed with a little bit of other music in a range of genres that’ll have us dancing the night away! We’ll be having versus mode fun with Sonic games on the HD cinema screen once again, all the great games from last time will be making a comeback, PLUS we’ll have SONIC GENERATIONS!

Last but not least, we’ll all share the final seconds of 2011 together when we use the screen to watch the fireworks at midnight!

I have to stress the importance of the attendance numbers. I cannot book the venue unless I feel comfortable that a minimum of 50 people will come to this party. This opportunity to send off Sonic’s 20th Anniversary will never come again, and this AMAZING party WILL be cancelled if I can’t get the numbers, because the investment is just too risky for me otherwise. So, invite as many people as you can and get them to come! The venue and costs are subject to change until booking or cancellation.

I know that the entry fee is much more expensive this time. This is down to the increased hire costs and minimum spend, what with it being New Year’s Eve and all. But if you think carefully about it, how much have you spent on yourself on meet-up days, at Summer of Sonics gone by, or even when you’ve gone out on New Year’s Eve before? More than £45? Was it worth it?
