Tracy Yardley! Confirmed For IDW Sonic Team, One Of Multiple Covers For Issue #1 Released
The Sonic announcements from IDW have already begun. Tracy Yardley! is going to be part of the IDW Sonic crew. And we have (finally) gotten our first look on the art of the comics. All the info is down below.
What’s up Sonic Comics Squad?! We’re here to show off one of the OFFICIAL covers for issue #1 of IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, featuring the return of beloved Sonic artist Tracy Yardley!
Tracy Yardley! began his career in 2005 with fellow SCAD alum, Nate Bowden on Tokyopop’s original manga series,“Riding Shotgun.” At the same time, he began his long run (pun intended) on the various “Sonic the Hedgehog” titles published by Archie Comics alongside Ian Flynn, and is currently producing art for Archie’s new “Cosmo” series. He has contributed to “Hero Cats of Stellar City” from Action Lab Entertainment, and has produced scripts and pencils for the forthcoming “Galaxy Man and Cosmic Girl.”
Now Tracy is back on board once again with Ian Flynn at IDW Publishing; ready for new and exciting adventures with the blue blur, Sonic the Hedgehog!
Tracy has already commented about the matter in the FB group and on Twitter. On Facebook: “Glad to be back! Thanks everyone, it’s been hard holding in the news“. And here’s the tweet:
IDW’s David Marioette in the Facebook group: “YOU GUYS! THIS IS IT! THIS IS YOUR FIRST PIECE OF INFO!”

Aw, hell yeah!
Now let’s hope IDW approved Sally Acorn, Bunnie Rabbot, Antoine, and Rotor (The Freedom Fighters) to be part of IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comic books! Glad Tracy Yardley is doing IDW Sonic while working at Archie.
Dude. No. Just no. There is no need for them to come back. This is an entirely new take on Sonic, meaning no Freedom Fighters, no alternate reality with many Sonics. Nothing.
The Freedom Fighters were apart of Satam, an old cartoon from the 90s that was soon put into Archie comics.
That era is done.
At best we might be able to see cameos of them.
But we didn’t see the descriptions of the first 4 issues of IDW Sonic confirmed yet! You may be wrong!
And Sega still owns Sally Acorn and the Freedom Fighters!
Uhh, but there’s a lot of demand from a lot of fans that aren’t you.
No one says it has to be the same story. We just don’t want to lose those characters.
Agree, BMH. Let’s see what IDW says on including Sally Acorn and the Freedom Fighters in IDW Sonic in the days to come…
I have a even better idea DTH1971, stop posting.
Why do you post the same thing over and over?
Anyone know where I can subscribe to the comic?
I also heard Evan Stanley will be one of the IDW Sonic artists.
Now all I need is the bad news that confirms the rest of what I want from the archie comics isn’t returning so I can stop giving a fuck about idw sonic. The games (excluding mania) are shit and now the comics won’t appeal to me anymore and I’m sure negi is 100% fine with that.
