The Next 10 Mega Drive Mini Games For Japan
A few weeks ago, when the first ten Genesis Mini games were announced, it was said the next information drop would be April 18th, and funnily enough, that’s today! Which means we have more information! In short, the next ten games for Japan’s Mega Drive Mini have been announced, giving us a peek at some of the games that might be coming to the American and European versions of the console.
- Thunder Force III
- Super Fantasy Zone
- M.U.S.H.A.
- World of Illusion: Starring Mickey & Donald
- Streets of Rage II
- The Hybrid Front
- Landstalker
- Contra: Hard Corps
- Dyna Brothers 2
- Game Kanzume Otokuyou
Just like last time, some of these games were exclusive to Japan, meaning if they were going to replace some games for English-speaking territories, it would likely be those. In particular, Hybrid Front and Dyna Brothers 2 never left Japan, so you can probably count them out. That being said, Dyna Brothers 2 in particular is interesting, because it’s not just any version of the game, it’ll be the special Sega Channel version, which included bonus content. Also wild is Game Kanzume Otokuyou, which despite being listed as a single title, is actually a collection of smaller Sega Channel-only, Japan-only Genesis games:
16t, Flicky, Putter Golf, Hyper Marbles, Shi no Meikyuu, Medal City, Paddle Fighter, Ikasuze! Koi no Doki Doki Penguin Land MD, Pyramid Magic, Robot Battler, Teddy Boy Blues, and Aworg. If you separate them out of their collection and count them individually, this technically brings the number of entries on the Mega Drive Mini up to 50 games, not 40.
If Sega’s reaching that deeply, it may mean Mega Man: The Wily Wars is a possibility.
As with before, it makes sense that Sega of America (or Sega of Europe) will probably follow up with their own 10-game list for the Genesis Mini some time in the next 48 hours, so stay tuned for that.
