SRB2 XMas Released…with Major Bug?
Johnny “Sonikku” Wallbank put a major alert on the STJR Message Board today:
Woah… A.J overlooked a kinda major bug in the finished version and forgot to actually try the final product – result? An error when you start it. Therefore, DO NOT download the copy of SRB2:XMAS that is up – save yourself some time, and wait until A.J comes on and sees the complaints. Sorry about this folks.
Apparently the problem is with some Windows 98 machines. AJ Freda said some other people have had problems with this too.
The final decision made by Sonikku and Tails later in the day was that users can download the current version, and the team will make a patch later on. Here @ the Sonic Scene, we have not had this problem as of yet, but we’ll see what happens. In the meantime, check the STJR board for further details.
Early PM: The folks at Sonic Team Junior have released a Christmas incarnation of this much anticipated title. You can download the game at the Sonic Fan Games HQ.
First Impressions: First of all, on a laptop, this game can be really mean to the eyes. The repeating textures with blue and white colors almost kept me from playing this. If you plan to play this with a laptop, turn down the brightness or get some sunglasses.
The game itself is difficult, mostly because Sonic responds to your every move. You could just graze the directional keys and go. A lot of times that will kill you, though. Add to the fact that the blue and white textures will make it seem very confusing at times, and this game may not be so merry for you.
However, there are good points to this, the graphics, and the neat Christmas sounds. Yes, one could say they are the same old, same old, but they really aren’t. There is a storyline attached to the Christmas version, making it a bit interesting.
I will have a review of this up by the 24th or 25th, so stay tuned.
