Sonic Movie Ad to Run in Super Bowl Pregame Show
The Hollywood Reporter has noted that the Sonic movie will get likely its largest audience exposure ahead of the film’s release on February 14th, as a commercial for the film will run on FOX as part of Super Bowl Sunday.
But the ad will not run during the game. Paramount has confirmed the ad will run as part of the Super Bowl pregame show. Ads there, while expensive, are much more cost-effective versus the average cost of a 30-second ad during the game. It’s been estimated those ads will cost a company $5.6 million this year – a new record.
Paramount will also run ads in pregame for A Quiet Place II and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.
Only two movie studios will advertise upcoming films in-game, THR explains.
Studios have found in recent years that social media campaigns can be more effective at a lower price point. Paramount has also invested in significant, at times elaborate print and digital advertising for the Sonic movie in major cities across the United States and around the world.
