Great… but I really hope it won’t ruin SONIC 4’s continuity since Metal Sonic will appear and seem not to be on Little Planet anymore!!…
Perhaps every time Metal Sonic returns is a new copy? Except the one from Sonic 4 that then went rogue in Sonic Heroes and was destroyed at the end of that game.
Actually, I hope Sonic 4 is forgotten. For all intents and purposes, per Sonic Mania’s opening animation, there is only Sonic 1, 2, 3, & K, CD, and Mania. Good riddance to Sonic 4.
Baaah, Sonic 4 wasn’t THAT bad. The first one was mediocre and the second one was pretty decent.
And I like to think that there are two Metal Sonics in existence. The original Metal Sonic from CD was the one who was rescued in Sonic 4 and who would then go on to betray Eggman in Sonic Heroes and a second version of Metal Sonic that was created for Sonic R/The Fighters and then shows back up in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Rivals 2. The first one is intent on destroying Sonic and is the one that is around when Metal is treated as a legitimate threat while the second one was created more to absorb field data and be a mindless drone for Eggman and is the one that is around when Metal is just kinda there for no reason. And Mania can still fit into there since the Sonic 4 Metal comes from the Bad Future while Mania’s Metal Sonic fight takes place in the Good future. So it’s like DBS Future Trunks VS Time Patrol Future Trunks…
Well, Sonic 4 is canon, so you’ll have to deal with it. Besides, the way I see it, with Mania, the series splits into two timelines at the end of 3&K, with Mania continuing on one spectrum, and 4 follows after 3&K, with Chaotix picking up the slack at the end, with Metal’s return in 4 helping to make his appearance in Chaotix fit easier.
@BASSDS
This! Exactly my thoughts, let’s not forget that Sonic’s timeline its split in 2 after Sonic 3 & Knuckles so in Modern Sonic’s timeline Sonic 4 and Sonic Adventure are canon, in Classic Sonic’s timeline Sonic Mania and Mania Adventures are canon instead, that’s pretty much why Classic Sonic is now the “Sonic from another dimension” in Forces.
You think they give a shit about that game? SA2 was Iizuka’s baby and he didn’t care about about one of it’s big moments (half of the moon getting blown up) being reflected in later games what chance do you think Mania and anything else is going to be held back story wise by a game that failed so hard Sega cancelled later episodes?
Sonic 4 probably won’t be referenced in any Classic Sonic game soon.
The game had may as well not be canon. It would probably be referenced in a Modern Sonic game, like Sonic Forces, and other 3d ones.
