Sonic Jump Arrives on Android
After first being released to iOS devices, Sega and Hardlight in cooperation with Google Play today released Sonic Jump to Android.
The game costs $1.99 and is available to download for most Android systems. The download size and compatibility varies with each device.
But be warned: As with most other Sega apps, you’ll be giving up some privacy. The game’s permissions section says downloading it allows the program “Full Network Access,” as well as the ability to “Read Phone Status and Identity,” including the ability to see “the remote number connected by a call.”
If you’re all right with that, click here to download, and then tell us what you think of the game in the comments.
All good, but why would it want to know who’s calling you… ?
WARNING. Sonic Jump is apparently too much for the Droid X (1) to handle. So before you go wasting $1.99, make sure your phone is a little more up to date. I thought the X was a decent phone, but I got it right before the X2 came out, so of course it won’t play anything made after early 2010.
it took me a moment to figure out how to steer em but so far this game I think just touched me in the heart again. I like what I see so far…is any of the staff here doing a review on the android version?
for now, everyone with Xperia GO/Advance should give a break, game don’t load anything, only titles and black screen with music. Let’s wait for fix people
The “Full Network Access” permission is normally just there for Internet access – either to help serve advertisements for “free” apps or in the case of this game, likely for leaderboard and achievement tracking and in-app purchases.
The “Read Phone Status and Identity” permission is usually to help automatically suspend the app when a call arrives so that the game doesn’t prevent accepting telephone calls or continue running while the call progresses. The “the remote number connected by a call” permission is often just lumped in due to the developer leaving it active unintentionally or because the chosen SDK requires it.
Man apparently my brand new razr isnt capable of running it 🙁
@Fent – Same here! I don’t think its a RAZR problem though, I just think that since many users are complaining about several problems for the Android ver., that SEGA took it down for now.
It’s strange because no app should say that (insert your android phone here) is incompatible with a game. :/
And there you go Android users!!! So you can FINALLY stop clamoring, and enjoy the heck out of this meh-ish game. Man you guys must really be starving over a new Sonic game…smh.
@Jmack- Not sure if you’re being truthful or not.
This game isn’t bad at all
It’s a good time waster if you ask me.
@Ricardo
I was serious. It isn’t a bad game but it’s definitely not anything to get worked up over. Especially how people with Android phones have been acting.
@Fent
Is your RAZR the Intel one? Razr M? Those aren’t compatible with some of the games
After FIX, Jump on Xperia GO/Advance runs smooth and almost perfect.
why almost? cuz text is reaaaly reaaaly small!
Sonic Jump is now compatible with the RAZR! If it says not compatible, just press the back button, cluck Sonic Jump again, and it should work! 😛
New update just came out (December 23rd) that fixes the illegible font on most devices. The obtrusive permissions are still there though.
