Sonic Boom Review Copies Yet To Be Sent
Four days from now, North American consumers will be able to purchase Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal on 3DS and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric on Wii U. It is at this time that reviews for the game begin to sprout as the embargo lifts and review copies are tried out. There’s just one problem. The review copies haven’t been sent yet. At least, according to Destructoid, anyway:
Full disclosure — we haven’t obtained a review copy yet for either version, and I hear we’re not alone.
The cause of this is unknown but one thing is for sure: the wait for reviews for both versions of the game will continue for just a little while longer. It’s even possible that reviews won’t sprout up until after the games release. As soon as reviews begin to come out we’ll be sure to let you know.
For now the Q&A on my Ask.fm continues as of this article’s writing. I will also be live tweeting the premiere of the cartoon tomorrow morning on my personal Twitter account. Afterwards will come the review I’ll be doing for the cartoon. Stay tuned.

Omg lol xD
This just smacks of Sega having no confidence whatsoever in these games. After all they’ve spent on the entire Boom sub-franchise, to end up with almost no advertising, a graveyard TV slot, showing outdated footage at E3, and not one game review ahead of release, it’s almost like they want to fail.
seems to me you have no confidence in the series either.
It seems to me you lack basic reading comprehension. That, and you’ve clearly read none of my comments on this article.
seems to me you have a bad additude
Seems to me you’re a ninny
excuse me, but may i politely ask how, sir or ma’am?
Jhon, maybe you could determine that question the same way you determined RaceProUK has no confidence in the series and how he/she has a bad attitude. ; )
Seriously? I guess its possible that sega is just slow on this but they gotta be aware that this isnt directly making boom look good.
Huh,
Doesn’t suprise me that 100rings would be on it like a fly on fly paper. Can we not assume that it means something bad, rings cause it’ll just make an a** out of you and me.
Agreed.
This game either has horrible luck or the game is horrible entirely.
I think the review copies WERE sent, they just haven’t arrived yet.
Wouldn’t surprise me.
they probably that SEGA will have to make an announcement of delays, sorry for this inconvenience of unfinished game or they cancel this game release due to SEGA not satisfied of the entire franchise direction it happen before with unfinished Sonic Xtreme; but my point is that they would sell it off to higher bidder like SONY or NINTENDO…well SONY did bought the name license to make a movie for 2016 release…and SONY not only they interested of this franchise future but are very confidence this be huge success for them and SEGA that could be a deals of selling the entire franchise to SONY or a merger between 2 companies forging alliance for the first time in history, SEGA-SONY Corporation, this could be huge setback for Nintendo and Microsoft…
You do realize sega would lose more money if they cancel it right? The game is finished. Sonic Xtreme was apparently only 70% done And I doubt they would sell a sonic sub franchise to a company. It would ruin sonic if they didn’t give it to the right developer. Sega might give a exclusive sonic on ps4 to tie in with the movie, but I really doubt they would sell Boom to Sony or Nintendo. And I’m pretty sure they confirmed the Sonic movie isn’t based on a the Boom universe.
I would prefer a Sony bid or to a less extent a Microsoft bid to the Sonic franchise. I say no to a Nintendo bid.
Agreed.
Whoa.
I know how burned out reviewers get. Time is wasting.
I’ll just put this here http://youtu.be/gN5MijQvY3w
GOOD!!! LET PLAYERS REVIEW AFTER PLAYING THE GAMES FOR ONCE!!!
Seriously I am sick and tired of reviewers ruining games in SO many ways, sales included, because they review a game off the bat or before its release without people even having a chance to play through the first two minutes of a title THEMSELVES.
I am ALL FOR abandoning allowing anyone to play and review a title before its launch. Let FANS make reviews AFTER playing it THEMSELVES and not people looking for quick bucks and to start wars on the online communities.
This is a GOOD THING.
So people should shell out for a game at full price that they’re on the fence about? Your logic is so flawed it gives me a headache.
You sir, are stupid. That’s the basic reason why reviews exist. For people to see how the game plays without buying it themselves. People who don’t like to judge without playing themselves do not watch reviews. And those who do, they know that reviewers can have their own opinions and they can at least base their opinion on the real footage and the real facts.
Your comment is just a desperate attempt to agree with this foul policy of selling a bad game (or bad games in general) to unsuspecting people who would otherwise have NO CLUE as to how judging the quality of the game before buying it. If you think that is an evil thing to do, go ahead and eat my excrements. No, don’t say no until you tried it – and don’t dare to ask other people if they liked those or not.
The only reason why you are happy is because you know that this game is bad and that the reviews will be bad. And you think that more people will buy this game this way and it’s somehow good to you. Well it’s not. People will buy the game for themselves and hate it. And it will create an even worse reputation for Sonic than it has now. This is the second 06. But this game is not bad because it’s unfinished – but because it’s designed to be bad.
^^ This guy knows what’s up.
Ahh TSSZ, the fan base where so many love calling another person out as stupid and filling a comment reply with nothing but paragraphed rants on why everything should be hated and bashed and shouldn’t be allowed to exist.
Remember the 90’s when people played a game without a ton of reviews to sway their thoughts and opinions like mindless puppets and obedient dogs waiting to roll over and change their behavior upon anothers command? We had some magazines out reviewing games but this was back when reviewers cared more about their love for titles and not about how much they have been paid off to review things a certain way and before they began allowing how general audiences feel sway them to review something positively or negatively as well just to make themselves popular.
You are a poor fan in my eyes who just loves to do whatever possible to call BOOM out as bad because of your own purist and spiteful outlook on everything revolving it. I enjoyed the demo and plan to get both versions of the game as do a rather large number of fans as well, not that they will admit it here because those like you will hound them for saying BOOM is anything but bad on this site.
Tristan, I left a helpful comment that got filtered, can you please get it back for me? It’s really important and applies context to the issue.
Or SSF1991, whoever is in charge of retrieving filtered comments? Please get it back, I wanted to make sure everybody understood both sides without any toes being stepped upon.
Don’t worry Chris, I agree with you! Believe or not, people take review scores way too seriously so I completely support this review copy delay.
“The cause of this is unknown …”
Hahahahaha. The cause is unknown. Yeah, sure.
If there was then please enlighten me. No need for the sarcasm.
20 million dollars well spent.
I’d say the good out-weighs the bad here. 😛
SEGA may not convince some of us to buy the game but if they had advertised the damn cartoon/game/comic at least weeks before then they could those with **** taste a.k.a kids.
Are you saying kids have bad taste?!
remember this almost happen with capcom franchise of Megaman and X…and Zero and Legend…well let me tell you it was brave for capcom to make moves with lot of risking decision of changing its franchise direction into many paths as the same time the main series die off due to X franchise gaining it popularity due to kick-ass soundtrack and gameplay for SNES then SONY step in for its exclusive rights because that time Nintendo was losing lot of money with cartridges and no strategy plan with N64 short success and the fall of SEGA dreamcast…so SONY played very well with its PS1 and PS2 success and having capcom…its sure made them huge company better than before..
i wish SONY could make a movie about themselves….HOW DID THEY DO IT ??????
I have not heard anything about review copies being the in the mail and I expect to get the games.
Tristan, I lost a comment, can you please get it back for me? Please?
