A new trailer for the video games for Sonic Boom has followed the cartoon trailer. You can watch them below, the latter containing a brief glimpse of Orbot and Cubot.

Why do they even NEED Orbot and Cubot in this? Orbot was funny in Unleashed, but when they changed his personality from merely pointing out Eggman’s mis-steps to just flat-out being a lazy douche who doesn’t take Eggman seriously they ruined his character. Cubot’s voice chip breaking and his cluelessness seems to be all the humor they want to milk him for and those jokes ran out of steam around the end of Colors. They’re just taking up space. Why couldn’t we just not have them this time around?
Simple–Cubot makes Eggman look smarter by comparison, and Orbot makes Eggman look dumber by comparison! You can’t get rid of them! Ever!
I hate how those annoying, useless characters have been shoved down our throats since Colors. I was hoping they stayed gone after Eggman left them for dead in Generations. It seriously baffles me as to why Sega likes them so much.
Actually Sonic Team wanted to kill them but Ken Pontac made some pressure to keep them.
Ken Potac… Why did they choose him again?…
They didn’t choose him, i’m talking about SLW
ST wanted to kill orbot and cubot after Colors (they aren’t here in Gens) but Pontac made them come back in SLW.
My bet is the new writers are like Pontac and think they are funny.
I like Orbot and Cubot personally. I think they’re very funny and I never get the hate at all.
The two games both look fairly good, I enjoyed that trailer more than the previous ones. VERY happy to see Metal and Shads.
As for the tv show… ehhhhh, it seems like all of the parts that were actually funny were countered by cheesy lines and lame humor attempts. Still a bit unsure about it.
Oh, and on Orbot and Cubot, can’t they write at least ONE acceptably funny line for them? Everything they’ve said so far just makes the whole thing seem… stupid -_____-
See…this looks very entertaining! I’m very interested to see what this show has to offer. It seems to capture the characters well. They seem to have good synergy. Wish I could have the same enthusiasm about the game
Shadow the Hedgehog looks amazing… He doesn’t look much different from the original, nonetheless the minor changes implemented make him look even more awesome… I hope to see more and more and more and more of him in the very, very, very, very near future… I am now deeply interested on how they will handle him…
Did I actually see a buzz bomber in the tv trailer? I think I did.
Sonic & Shadow interacting in a series where Sonic is even more of a jerk?
This should be fun.
Uhh… was this supposed to get people hyped, interested or generally entertained? Because I’m still not feeling it. Still looks… bland and generic. Honestly, not even the show looks good to me.
Just one more game… all it takes is one more game from Sonic Team, which will decide whether I stick with the series a bit longer or finally quit for good and leave it in the trash where it belongs if they don’t shape up.
I feel you, I’m not quite there myself but I definitely feel that. In un/related news, at least Sonic got a major buff in Smash 4.
I have Smash 3DS, and honestly, he doesn’t play very well. Also, they didn’t even get Roger Craig Smith to record new lines for the game, instead they just recycled voice clips from Generations and the Olympics Games. Even his Smash appearance was half-assed. Again.
Except the only other Veteran characters who got new lines/voice actors were Fox, Falco, Pit, Ness and Kirby. Everyone else’s lines were just recycled.
Well that’s how he feels to you to me seems much better then his Brawl self I agree about the voices he could of gotten new lines at least
Note that this is NOT a game of the main Sonic series, it is a spin-off with very different gameplay and presentation. So, I don’t think you should take this game as a deciding factor on the entire series.
The show looks pretty nice,I’ll give it a watch. The games on the other hand don’t look that bad.The Wii U version looks a lot less pixelated now than it did before which is nice, the 3DS version looks very Rivals esk to me only a bit better.Overall pretty good trailers
@Ajavalo: It’s STILL a Sonic game, not just that, but a whole “sub-franchise”! In fact, that’s why I’m so pissed off at Boom, along with the fact that it’s getting a TV Show instead of the main series. It’s getting a bigger marketing push than the main series all around, and that annoys me greatly, when everything I’ve seen about the game thus far has been nothing, but trash. Sonic Team is the last, and only hope for me, and even then, Lost World was garbage too for terrible gameplay and controls on top of copying literally nearly EVERYTHING from Mario. I stand by my statement. If the next Sonic Team game sucks, I’m done.
If you hate it so much, why still here?… Why stick around to things you hate?… Why not just let it go, shut up and wait for what you want…You know commenting such words won’t change a thing… I’m not asking you to stop coming for good, don’t get me wrong, but I’m asking you to only come at things you actually like, like what you said, waiting for Sonic Team to make another, actual sonic game… If you hate it, leave it be, because the fact that you are still around commenting such comments means you still have some interest in this spin-off nonetheless… The whole franchise doesn’t revolve around you or others who hate it, it revolves around everyone and welcomes those who love it… That means you are not forced to like it nor focus on it, you are free to go and wait for something you actually like, cause there is still hope for your taste, but others are being focused on right now, so wait your turn… You got to just let it go and allow others who like this game to enjoy themselves… They are not making it hard on you to accept it or leave it, you are making it hard on yourself…
You can’t have positivity without negativity. It is part of the balance of nature. You didn’t have to reply, but you did. All you’re doing by that is just dragging things out further because you don’t like to see people with negative opinions. I’ve already moved on 99% of the way. There are a lot of other things I like. Sonic is just one of them, or rather used to be one of them. Hell, Sonic’s not even my favorite series; Dragon Ball is. I’m still hoping the game I want will be made someday, but I highly doubt it’ll ever happen. I grew up with Sonic, and I’m just waiting on one more screw up so I can know to leave it all for good. As for why I keep bitching, well, I don’t WANT Boom to be positively received, if I’m brutally honest. Is that selfish? Hell yes it is, but everyone has their own beliefs of right and wrong, and I think Boom and Lost World are NOT the directions the series should take to get back to relevance. All it’s doing is making everything worse, dividing the fandom more, and it’s gonna confuse the hell out of everyone. In fact, I’m surprised people are okay with Sega making the series even LESS consistent than it already is. The fandom is the way it is because Sega won’t find something to stick with that works for them, and as a result Sonic’s become a laughing stock in the gaming community. Sega has allowed all these different continuities and timelines and no one really knows for sure what Sonic *is* anymore. It’s all a clusterfuck. Boom is just taking this problem one step further, and that irritates the crap out of me. Don’t you think it’s kinda WRONG that Sega’s openly making a Sonic game that’s out to ALIENATE the fans? Sure, there’s one thing I can do about it. Not support it, and I refuse to. Will it do anything? Hell no it won’t, but dammit, it’s the principle.
Now that I’ve got all the bitching out of my system, I’ll go now. Good day to you Sonic community. Enjoy your Sonic Boom thing.
“no one really knows for sure what Sonic *is* anymore. It’s all a clusterfuck.” I agree with this. However, I have something to say about you leaving the franchise.
I attended Sonic Boom this year. When I saw the amount of people who care for and love this franchise- who love Sonic the Hedgehog, It became clear to me. Even if Sonic is a laughing stock among the gaming commmunity, there will always be a place for him, and he will certainly live on for as long as icons such as Mario will. What is important is that SEGA tries, and honestly they cannot ever fail. For example: Sonic ’06? Yes, that game and everything surrounding it was a failure, but there are many children around the world who played the game happily because at their age they really have nothing to be critical about. I’m sure Sonic ’06 still sold enough too to make it a success for SEGA. Just like you said, “You can’t have positivity without negativity. It is part of the balance of nature.” Sonic has enough fans already, is big enough of an icon to introduce many curious children to the franchise, and will succeed no matter what SEGA tries. You want to step out on this franchise? As much as I hate to say it, be my guest. It is only natural that people will move on, and I guess you’re one of them. Just do not be surprised when many years later you end up seeing that Sonic is still going; still trying to find that perfect game while the fans support and critisize in the process. Take care. Also, dragon ball is a good franchise so… enjoy!
Yes, you are totally correct, I hate seeing negative comments… Who likes seeing negative comments?… Hmm?… Who does?… Yet I let them… But why I chose to butt in in this particular negativity is because you say the same thing everytime in everyplace of the same thing… And that causes you to shove it down our throats… Yes, there must be a balance between positivity and negativity, but that doesn’t mean bitching the same thing over and over again, cause that is not creating a balance anymore, that is just being down right annoying, in fact, it creates more of an unbalance… As for what happened to the franchise and what it did to the fanbase, I have many things to say about it, pointing both sides, but it was already stated in another place and I don’t want to become annoying and say it again…
But thank you anyway for the same opinion again, and hope to see you soon with something positive to say this time… So that a REAL balance can be created, in you…
I wonder why you guys think Boom will please kids.
I mean, let’s face it, that argument about how kids are into campy comedy and kiddy tone has been used since Sonic Colors and the series didn’t gather any significant new audience; actually it’s quite the opposite; Sonic hasn’t been that unpopular. And worst; the natural audience is decreasing. So why Boom would succeed when all the other attempts to rise with that direction failed and how many times they will try this before they realise it’s a poison?!
I really hope the cycle will change in 2016.
@Nafareas The argument here is not whether Sonic Boom will succeed or not, the argument here is when bitching about things has reached it’s climax…
@Nafareas
The difference this time is that there is a TV show. Thousands of children watch TV every day, and what makes it even better is that the show is airing on an actual channel this time. If this TV show doesn’t bring in new fans then I don’t know what will.
Right there with you. I’m predicting another “good Sonic game drought” coming.
AGAGAGGAHHHHHHHH!!! DONNIE! THE STUPID FILTER WILL NOT DISPLAY MY COMMENT! PLEASE GET IT ON HERE because it is making me pretty angry.
You posted the comment four times. The spam filter must’ve thought that that warranted moving all four there.
Your comment’s up now. =)
What happened was I actually copied it before I clicked “Post Comment”. So when I kept seeing it not show up, I repeatedly pasted my comment into the box and attempted to post it. It didn’t help though since if the message is the same, it will block it over and over. Thank you!
I’m liking this, but I wish they’d stop using that slow motion that makes things look choppy. Like, usually to make slow motion, you’d animate more frames. But they seemed to add it in after the fact. Blegh.
The TV show looks pretty great as well. Nice to see something on Cartoon Network (besides Gumball, Pokémon and possibly Steven Universe) that doesn’t suck.
