Smash Ultimate Version 3.1 Released
Nintendo released on Thursday the latest major update to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch.
Dubbed version 3.1, its major addition is VR support via Nintendo Labo. Players can now observe matches using the Toy-Con VR setup, which is a separately sold accessory.
There were, as there have been with major updates, a laundry list of changes to many of the fighters’ mechanics. Much of the Internet’s attention has been paid to significant changes to Pichu and Olimar, with concerns they will be rendered unplayable in top tier matches. Interesting enough, no changes were made to Sonic in this latest update, but several were made to Bayonetta, one of the roster’s stronger characters:
- Neutral Attack 1 – Increased the amount of time hit detection lasts.
- Flurry Attack Finish – Extended launch distance.
- Dash Attack – Extended launch distance for the high-damage range.
- Up Tilt Attack – Made it easier to hit multiple times.
- Down Smash Attack – Increased the amount of time hit detection lasts.
- Side Special – Reduced vulnerability when landing.
- Up Special – Reduced vulnerability when landing.
