Hacker Threat Update 9/25/2000
I have some very good news. A source, which I will not reveal to the public at this time, came forward to me and sent me this:
Yes, you heard me right, Bob Smiley is a fake. How do I know? I invented him! You see, Bob Smiley was the code name I used to go into Chat rooms or guestbooks and such and annoy people, basically by saying, “I’m Bob Smiley” a bunch. Anyhow, I had ended up using my “Bob Smiley” name a little after the Sonic Fan Game HQ hacking incident, going into the moogle cavern chat room as Bob Smiley and annoying everyone a bit. I eventually started using a little font trick, which basically was that since capital I’s and lowercase L’s looked the same in the chatroom, I could “clone” someone named Tails, or Fadflamer, by simply replacing the lowercase L with an I.
Somewhere down the line, someone else started using the name and claimed he was a “hacker”(due the rep Bob Smiley had already built up in the Moogle Cavern chat). At that point, I stopped using the Bob Smiley name, as I figured it would be a good idea to stop. Obviously, the same person who took the Bob Smiley name and started saying he was a hacker is the same person who is trying to threaten these Sonic sites now.
All I’m telling you is that this Bob Smiley is a fake. He’s not a hacker, he doesn’t even have an original name, he just used mine! All his threats should be assumed empty threats, and basically laughed at. You truly have nothing to fear, Bob Smiley has been created from basically nothing but hype.
Continuing with our coverage, ‘Bob Smiley’ has now moved to Mail.com. Before his Hotmail account was terminated, he sent another threatening letter to Sonic3D40. Attached to it was a pornographic picture:
LOL. You arn’t LISTENING to me! To help you, I have attached a pic for you to use. You fag. You go and tell Tris. LOL. HE’S GONNA HELP YOU!!!!!! HA HA HA HA! USE THE IMAGE OR MATT THE YAK GETS IT! THEN YOU ARE NEXT!
You have 7 days to post it
Rlan has also told me that he has been receiving threats from this guy as well. It has also been revealed that this person assumed the identity of a third Sonic fan on AIM, that of Spazz. The real Spazz, however, broke into the conversation.
The big news about this is that I now finally have an IP address from this guy, thanks in part to Mail.com saving it in the MIME headers. I can now see about tracing the IP back to this person’s ISP, and reporting him about the problems he has been causing the Sonic community.
