Sega’s Parker Denies Toy Fair Sign Reports
What planet is Kellie Parker and the Sega community team living on? Instead of clarifying the details of a sign Sonic toy maker Jazwares showed at the International Toy Fair last week–details we showed you were mostly regurgitated from earlier releases or wasn’t really significant new information at all–Parker, the senior community manager for the company, issued a near blanket denial of anything on that sign being accurate.
“The recent information coming out of Nuremburg Toy Fair was incorrect,” Parker said on the Sega forums. “SEGA has yet to announce details of upcoming console video games for Sonic the Hedgehog, or further details regarding the new Sonic CG TV series.”
Except Sega has to a large extent. Regarding games, we know there will be at least one more Nintendo exclusive Sonic title, presumably out this year if Sega’s pattern of releasing Sonic games in time for the Holidays holds. The only matters up for debate from the sign is whether that game will end up being a multiplatform affair eventually, or if Sega will have Sonic take a break this year. Otherwise, the idea of Sonic returning to multiple platforms in 2015 is nearly assured and even assumed, unless Sega and Nintendo plan to enter a long term agreement.
Parker’s backpedaling of the details from Sonic Boom is even more perplexing, since basically everything on that sign was relayed from Sega’s own press release on Sonic Boom TV back in October (and which we brought you first in June.) Parker even refused to mention Sonic Boom by name–though in her defense, Boom was touted as a tentative name.
In the end, we have another classic case of the left arm not telling or knowing what the right should do, resulting in even more confusion for fans desperate for information on the next step for Sonic. We want to know if you believe a word of Kellie’s denial on behalf of the company. Tell us below in the comments.
I don’t get why people (all of a sudden) assume the 3rd exclusive is not coming at all. Did everyone forget all the teasing of the 3rd title, even having Aaron mention that he’s pretty excited for it (which more or less confirms that the game exists).
Just be patient, people. Let Sonic finish his business on Wii U (2014)”and then he’ll be everywhere again (2015).
I honestly expect the 3rd exclusive to announced in the February Direct. Hopefully it will be on Valentine’s Day again!
3 games, 3 games on that sign with all of them coming to the Wii U gee I wonder what it’s referring to!
Yes! I’m not the only one who remembers Aaron’s statement! 🙂 I agree with you.
Keep in mind all the other lovely statement Mr.Webber has made over the years

That’s what I was thinking. I don’t think SEGA would be so quick to ditch the Nintendo exclusivity after all the partnership talk they’ve been having.
They would after seeing how they are ending up like every 3rd party on Wii U, a massive black hole of money the complete opposite of the success they had on the original Wii. Unless they are paying SEGA’s bills for it they have no reason to invest in another big budget AAA Sonic game exclusively for the Wii U
…Sonic has never had big-budget games. And you’re trolling is not working out so well.
If that were the case then the games would still look like Dreamcast games in favor of a custom made rendering engine, they certainly wouldn’t have orchestrated music and gorgeous CG.
I think I can already hear Sigma just going crazy over this
The 2015 game probably has some neat stuff about it, SEGA was discussing it with Jazwares so they could begin designing toys, and some guy on the Jazwares staff over in Germany didn’t think the sign through.
With how abysmal the Nintendo deal has been in sales and how often Sonic releases games, a multiplat game in 2015 is practically a given.
You have to give credit to Kellie for at least trying to deny things, however. All in the job description.
So no word on the Movie?
Yes! Can only mean it won’t be exclusive to Wii U, PS4 and X1. Steam version too, hopefully!
Thanks Sigma! Fingers crossed on the Steam version, too, especially with the Steam machines that are set to hit the market fall of this year.
Steam Machines… really? *sigh*
Eh… I still believe there will be a third Nintendo exclusive. No, it can’t be smash bros. Whatever it is, I hope the fans respect it better than they did Lost World. 🙁
No, your the ones in denial. You mis-translated Jazwears article yourselfs. It said nothing about details regarding a 2015 multiplatform Sonic title. It was all baseless speculation based on a Random typo on some Random Toy Fair poster.
I love how people are calling SEGA liars. That’s what happens when you want to believe something that’s not real. You deceive yourself into believing it.
I wouldn’t really call putting the logos of the 3 big main next gen consoles a “typo”
I don’t blame Sega for this, it’s really Jazwares’s fault for getting the info wrong.
Jazwares never said anything. SonicStadium were the ones the started all the ruckus. And now they’ve got egg on their face.
The return of SegaZone. Let us give a round of applause. *Crickets chirping.*
Yes, but it was Jazwares themselfs that made the sign, so they are still to blame here, not Sonic Stadium.
Yep, because putting logos on boxes is a typo.
Anyone can print and photoshop logos.
And besides the final Sonic multiplatform release before Sega Corporation,Inc officially goes idle indefinitely to make way for SEC, will be released this year.
That’s not going to happen, stop posting about that. This is a real image from the JazzWare’s freaking booth.
Yeah SEGA of America aren’t liars they would neve-
“Speed is something that is not given; but rather earned through dedication. Speed is not found by simply pushing a boost button, but by building momentum. It is the reward for skill in the face of difficult challenges – this kind of speed is the most exhilarating, not only because it is fast, but because of the pure perfection such speed exemplifies. This is the truth of the original Sonic games – and this is the truth of Project Needlemouse.”
Oh….
Another classic
“Casino Streets Zone isn’t inspired by any of the previous ones, it’s a casino-style zone and we definitely wanted to bring that to the consumers.”
You see it was just random chance that Casino Street had entire chunks identical to Casino Night.
Just throw this years info into a folder and label it with this image https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bfc4kkCIcAAva5T.png:large
It’s fake.
No shit.
O my god I hope they spit it out very soon! Its killing me not knowing what’s going to happen with Sonic and his feature):\
I’m only happy because the target audience of Sonic Boom might change at the end, hopefully it would be for everyone and not just boys from 6 to 11 years old.
“The action packed comedy series aimed at children 6-11”
http://blogs.sega.com/category/sonic-the-hedgehog/sonic-boom-working-title-tv-animation/
I meant I hope they will change that.
When you make a TV show, one of the first things an executive will ask you is what your target demographic will be. I get the feeling that any answer besides “boys aged 6 to 11” will result in a door slammed against your face.
Adventure Time, Spongebob Squarepants, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Gravity Falls all target that demographic, at least on paper. In practice, they get plenty of viewers outside of that demographic. In fact, with Phineas and Ferb, that is also the target demographic, but the creators openly state that they really write for everyone.
Saying “boys aged 6 to 11,” or any other demographic, is just there to please the executives and to let the schedulers know where to put the show. (In this case, Sonic Boom will most likely air alongside Adventure Time, Regular Show, Ben 10 Omniverse, and Teen Titans GO!) Who actually winds up watching it is determined by the quality of the show and by word-of-mouth.
What I’m hoping is that the CG TV show episodes aren’t 11 minutes long. I want a full 21 minute per-episode series, dammit.
They call it a action packed comedy so that’s probably why because they are aiming for comedy and not “epic” storytelling they don’t need 21 minutes per episode. Comedic cartoons are pretty famous for not needing a full half hour.
Though I doubt they will ever be on this level of humor, I sure hope they turn out this way!

It’s probably too much to ask for the Duck Amuck of Sonic cartoons.
Somehow, I’m not surprised… 😐
Well that was the most pointless comment section I’ve ever skimmed over. Jesus.
Did you skim over the last Nintendo one? Jesus Christ.
