Sega To Ouya For-a Sonic Four-a
Ouya, the little Kickstarter console project that could, launches on June 25th this year just 2 days after Sonic’s 22nd birthday and it seems SEGA just couldn’t help but add to the vast array of consoles and platforms Sonic has been put onto in recent years. As part of a selection of launch week titles SEGA are bringing optimised versions of both Sonic CD and both halves of Sonic The Hedgehog 4 to the Android based platform.
“Sega is an example of the types of developers that are coming to Ouya. We’ve always said that because Ouya is open, we lower the barriers for any type of developer, whether it’s AAA or a newcomer. We’re going to see all types of developers and games on Ouya. We’re excited to have Sega as a partner, they’re a great publisher. Sonic is an iconic brand and we think it’s just going to add to the fun of playing on Ouya,” said Ouya founder and CEO Julie Uhrman.
All three games will be free to try at first, with limited demos available on the store. However current planned prices of $6.99 each are higher than their other appearances on Android or even on iOS/Apple platforms.
