Sega Product Sales Skyrocket
Since August, the DC price drop, and SegaNet, sales of Sega products have jumped 92 percent from late Summer to now. And get this–NFL2K1 has sold 409,000 copies in just two weeks, according to TRST data. The game was number one on the multiplatform list for two weeks and running. And with Sony’s PS2 being available in limited numbers domestically (we’ve now received reports from retailers that Sony may only ship 350,000 consoles to stores, Wal-Mart and Best Buy getting the bulk), Sega should reap the benefits this holiday season. In an interview with New Zealand’s Dreamcast Weekly, Peter Moore, president of Sega of America, said that a user base of 3.75 to 4 million is possible by January 1, 2001. We’ll have to wait and see.
