SEGA Europe’s Gary Dale: “I Think Everybody’s Just Keen To Do The Right Thing”
SEGA Europe COO and president Gary Dale talked about the Sonic movie in an E3 2019 interview with Gamesindustry.biz
I think everybody’s just keen to do the right thing. Obviously we have a very deep knowledge of the character and the brand. [Paramount] has a very deep knowledge of how to make movies. The trick is just to bring those two skillsets together to make the best film we can. To be fair, Paramount has been open to listening to feedback from the community around Sonic, which of course has got such a tremendously loyal fanbase with people with very specific views of who Sonic is, how Sonic should behave, how Sonic should look. And I think Paramount has taken a lot of that on board.

This sounds like a toxic ex-lover trying to get back together. Paramount and Sega can try and say all they want, it won’t make a difference. The movie is still going to be a huge waste of resources.
Imma just say it right now, Sega should have gone with Toei Animations and remake the Sonic OVA.
Studio Pierrot animated the Sonic OVA, not Toei. Toei only made the Sonic CD animated Opening and Ending sequences.
Personally, I’d rather have a Sonic Adventure animated film adaptation animated by Ufotable or Production IG, but neither of the things we want are ever going to happen.
