Sonic’s 30th anniversary is next year, and SEGA has officially teased their plans for it for the very first time. It comes from SEGA Chief Brand Officer Ivo Gerscovich in an interview with GamingTrend:
The Sonic franchise is planning on celebrating its 30th anniversary next year; is there anything that fans should expect in the coming months?

If I see the return of the adventure formula, multiple playable characters like knuckles, cream, shadow, omega, and the return of the chao garden after ALL THESE YEARS, I’d lose my shit in excitement! Probably not gonna happen though…
IT BEGINS! #sonic30th
Sonic Colors and Generations did really well in my part. But, whatever they plan to share us some news about Sonic’s 30th anniversary in 2021, It would be much exciting as we are hoping for but i would not get my hopes on this just yet. Lets see how this turns out once we see a trailer for it and a new gameplay and animation.
I am starving for Sonic news… this is almost as bad as it was in the mainline Sonic game drought of 2013(post LW)-2016(when we finally started getting news about Mania and Forces). Thankfully, since this isn’t my first time waiting for news on new games like it was that last time, I am much more patient. I’m just hoping that, this time, this wait holds us a game or multiple games that all don’t disappoint *glares at Forces*
I also hope we get some news soon… even if it is just some small teaser or whatever (probably whatever they had planned for the SXSW panel) I hope we get something soon. Probably won’t get anything until June, when that IGN Online “E3” thing is going on that SEGA is participating in, but that is fine by me. Oh, and one last thing… if the new games are coming out next year, I hope they’re on next gen so we don’t have another situation where Sonic doesn’t get anything on the new PlayStation and Xbox until, oh idk, 4 years after those consoles have been released lol
there are other characters that exist too in a Sonic World. Some people are getting tired playing as Modern/Classic Sonic.
Whatever it is, my only hope is that they actually DO it without trying to bend over backwards to appease the “Sonic was never good” crowd. Lost World was confusing, Forces was desperate flailing, just make a GAME already. Make a game in the third dimension that doesn’t use 2.5D as a crutch. Sonic 2006 was over ten years ago, just because some douchebag game journalists won’t let it go doesn’t mean they should be forced to walk on eggshells every time they make a 3D game.

Anything Sonic Adventure related would surely please me. They should use what they learned from Generations gameplay for Sonic and continue with the trend of unique and different gameplay for the other characters.
The death of Sonic franchise, please. Make Sonic Mania the real last ultimate experience.
We need a boost trilogy remaster, for like, yesterday.
