Sega and Sony to Team Up?
This just hasn’t been a great day here at the Sonic Scene; we’ve been reporting mostly bad news all day. It’s about to get even worse courtesy of Segaweb:
The day we thought would never come has seemingly arrived. Sega is teaming up with Sony, Sammy, and Bandai in a joint venture. They four will be creating software titles for the Dreamcast and Playstation 2 among other platforms. The joint company will be called Sokkia Company, Ltd. and may well be a sign that the end of all things is nigh.
The new company should be surfacing sometime in March 2001, and thus far no titles or even rumors of possible titles exist. What can we expect from the group? Beats me. Probably in-fighting and massive bloodshed, but we’ll see. Could this be an elaborate plot by Sega to bring down the giant from the inside? Keep your fingers crossed. If nothing else we might see some killer games out of the deal.
