SAGE 2018 Booth Overviews: Set 11
Every day of SAGE, TSSZ will give you brief overviews of each booth’s amazing community content. Be sure to check back during the expo for more, and look out for Ryan Bloom giving each work a separate mini-review! You can play all games featured by heading to SAGE and clicking on the Games tab.
Sonic Skies is a traditional 16-bit fangame with some well done sprite work. The demo includes the original trio of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, as well as two playable zones. Have fun on the mysterious North Side Isle as you save the day and defeat Dr. Robotnik.
The name says it all, Folks. Sonic Mania Heroes takes the core Mania gameplay, and allows you to switch between three characters at once. You can make a team out of any of the five characters (assuming you have Mania Plus) and rotate through them in game with the click of a button. A simple addition, but a game changer for sure.
Another fighting game at SAGE this year is Super Universe Brawl, though this time around it’s not just Sonic characters. In fact, the vast majority of fighters come from multiple different series. The demo includes three stages, 24 fighters, and multiple different modes. If you’re looking for a unique fighting experience, you’ll want to check this one out.
Now this Smash themed entry is quite unlike all the rest. Instead of just beating each other up, you’re instead thrown into the worlds of these various franchises. Each character you play as keeps true to their original gameplay style, with gimmicks and physics all completely in tact. Even items such as power-ups and health can vary depending on who you play as. With a battle mode, adventure mode, and online play, there’s plenty to mess around with here.
Sonic Adventure Revolution is a beat’em up with a little bit of everything. Characters from multiple canons (such as the Freedom Fighters, and Sonia and Manic), 2D and 3D gameplay, mach speed sections from Sonic ’06, and even sections where you fight on extreme gear. It’s an interesting little grab bag that offers quite a unique experience. Other characters make an appearance too, such as the Ninja Turtles, Battle Toads, Earthworm Jim and more. The game supports 4 players and multiple controllers, so grab a friend and get playing today.
