SAGE 2009: STH Project: Mettrix
A team who go by the name of Organized Chaos have brought a number of games to this years SAGE. They have built these games using their very on game-engine called E02. E02 is a game development system for DOS and Windows PCs. Its editors and script interface allow users to create the characters and environment that make up the game.
STH Project: Mettrix isn’t a complete game at the moment. The download is more a demonstration of that the engine is capable of doing in regards to Sonic style platform games. What it does do is great though! The physics on the blue guy are top notch.
The booth details a lot of planned content. For example the final product is planned to have 13 levels. Some of the levels look like they will be good to get our hands on. A couple of the them are taken straight from the Sonic 2 level catalogue that never made it to production (Hidden Palace Zone and Dust Hill Zone). The rest of the levels are all fan made.
Also included in the booth is a complete list of all the music that either is, or was at one point planned to be used in this game. In addition to this there is also a complete version history of the demo and game engine.
The game engine used is actually offered on the site for download so that it can be used by other budding fan-game makers. It looks to be fairly simple to use and very fersitile. It may be fun to just have a play with even if you have no aim to make a game with it.

The engine is perfect but no one’s bothering to write levels for it. Also, please proof-read the articles.. I did look up the word ‘fersitile’ 😀
