PSN To Get Sonic 4 Premium Theme – Updated

SEGA have confirmed that PlayStation 3 users will be getting something in the way of an exclusive following the XBox avatar items – a PlayStation 3 Premium Theme.

The theme features the starting level for episode one  with various animations, including the odd fly-past by Dr. Eggman. If the final version is anything like the one I saw from a few weeks back, Sonic may also run off only to make a cheeky appearance at the corner of the screen.  It also includes various Sonic-y sound effects.

The theme is due to release release next Tuesday, January 18th in the US, hopefully with Europe being shortly afterwards. For price though it depends on your account status, as for a limited period of time its going to be a rather tasty freebie for all PlayStation Plus members. If you’re not a PS Plus member, I know I’m not, you can pick it up anytime for $2.99… so long as you live in the states. Unfortunately the SOA blog naturally didn’t tell us the prices of the rest of the gaming West i.e. £, $AUS and €.

EDIT: We’ve received confirmation that the SCEE territories, which naturally incorporate the European and Australian regions will receive it in their stores on Wednesday 19th free to PS Plus users, and €1.99/£1.59/$AU3.45 for non-subscribers.
