‘Pixels’ Launches First Trailer, Pac-Man’s Gonna Kill You

A few years back Wreck-It Ralph showed us Hollywood could make a compelling (and even more importantly good) story about video games and keep the feel of it intact.

This year we’ve got Pixels, a Sony produced Adam Sandler vehicle where aliens have turned the video game characters included in the culture section of a 1982 space capsule into real-life killing machines. Space Invaders and Galaga are real, Frogger isn’t something you want to mess with, Donkey Kong really does want to hit you with barrels, the least said about Centipede the better and Pac-Man is looking to eat you and everyone you know.

Personally the words “staring Adam Sandler” are usually all I need to never watch a movie ever. However it does have Sean Bean in it, so that helps. He’ll probably get killed by Q*bert or something, but what the hey. Additionally, yes, that really is Pac-Man creator Tōru Iwatani in the film as himself.

If you can stand it, Pixels is due out July 24, 2015 in the US.
